Assistant Chief Scout Executive—Chief Financial Officer

Alf Tuggle

 

Alf Tuggle was appointed to serve as assistant Chief Scout Executive/chief financial officer of the Boy Scouts of America effective Jan. 1, 2012. In this position, he gives leadership and direction to the General Services Group, which includes the Administration, High Adventure, Health and Safety, and Outdoor Program departments. He also oversees the Supply Group; the Controller Department; the Treasury Department; and the Human Resources, Innovation, and Research Group, which includes the Human Resources Administration Department, the Talent Management Department, and the Center for Professional Development.

Alf's first membership in Scouting was as a youth in the Central Georgia Council. In 1976, he started his professional Scouting career as a district executive in Albany, Georgia. Alf later worked on the staff at the Atlanta Area Council, and went on to serve as Scout executive in Columbus, Georgia; Richmond, Virginia; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 2007, Alf was appointed as regional director of the Southern Region. Prior to his current assignment, Alf served as assistant Chief Scout Executive for resources and strategy.

A graduate of Georgia Southwestern University in Americus, Georgia, Alf is Wood Badge trained and a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow. He is married to Marianne, and they have two sons: Brad of New London, Connecticut, and the Reverend Matthew Tuggle, his wife Amy, and grandson Boyd of Dacula, Georgia.
