Sponsorship Philosophy

The BSA vision is to build long-term, strategic, and integrated alliances with corporations that support our mission, provide an array of resources to help support national initiatives, and assist in helping grassroots programs flourish for local councils and Scouting families.

The BSA looks to harness resources from each of the following channels to fulfill the vision of every partnership striving to be a Five-Flag Alliance.

Mission-Directed Funds: Funds derived from sponsor rights fees, cause-promotions, product sales, and fundraising campaigns are used to support mission-critical initiatives.

In-Kind Resources: Budget-relieving products and services are needed to serve youth in communities and at large nationwide events such as the 2013 National Scout Jamboree.

Marketing and Advertising Support: Blue-chip advertising opportunities to share the BSA’s mission, programs, and values empower local councils to increase their membership, volunteer base, and fundraising goals, contributing to more youth being served in communities nationwide.

Stakeholder Activation: A pledge to inform employees, consumers, and supporters about an alliance with the BSA; willingness to encourage stakeholders’ active involvement, referrals, and donations adds tremendous value to both parties.

Networking: A commitment to provide invitations to corporate partners, vendors, manufacturers, and business colleagues to join the BSA and its corporate champions.
